Dwayne Hooper

Executive Director

 

​​As a Largo Community Ministries Executive Director, Dwayne has worked in various ministries, as well as serving on a Board of Trustees for the past 14 years for Largo Community Church. Dwayne worked in the banking industry for almost twenty years. Prior to joining the LCM staff, Mr. Hooper was a vice president with one of the largest title and settlement companies in the country. Mr. Hooper attended Rutgers University in New Jersey on a full athletic scholarship and majored in Business Economics. Now he is pursuing his Master's degree in Practical Theology at Regent University.

 

Mr. Hooper has served in many Civic Leadership positions during his professional tenure that includes, but is not limited to; Naval Academy Information Office, Southern Maryland College Access Network Board Member, Kings Purchase Homeowners Association President & Board Member, Community Youth Programs.

Susan Haynes Brown

Program Director

 

​​Mrs. Brown has considerable knowledge in the development and coordination of group programs for “hands on” activities, free play, motor development, homework supervision. She has expressed a keen ability to train, supervise and coordinate. Mrs. Brown shows excellent human relations, oral and written communications skills to program participants/families. She has the ability to relate effectively to parents and students and with those who require extra accommodations. As Director of LCM, Mrs. Brown has proven her ability to exercise initiative in carrying out program responsibilities while still making visionary steps toward our future.

 

Mrs. Brown has excelled in her tenure of 25 years working for the federal government. Operating in the Administrative profession. She’s had a successful career working in the areas of Quality Assurance Management and Project Management.   Mrs. Brown has also certifications relative to childcare, adolescent learning and adolescent development while at LCM.

Catherine Johnson, Licensed Childcare Teacher
Teacher, Grade k - 3

 

​​Mrs. Johnson has experience working with children in pre- kindergarten, kindergarten, first, second and third grades. She has the ability to easily manage any prompt issues of the children she works with. Mrs. Johnson has remarkable interpersonal skills towards children and parents as well. Also, she has been trained in the knowledge of child development principles and practices. Mrs. Johnson participates in all training and in-service opportunities to maintain a high standard of educational excellence.

 

Mrs. Johnson has worked as a telecommunication instructor for over 10 years, teaching customers and employees in the telecommunication industry. She has a solid managerial and operational background. Mrs. Johnson is decorated with the appropriate certifications and is a Licensed Childcare Teacher. Her commitment to conveying curriculum effectively has far exceeded our organizational standards.

Linda Howard 
Financial Secretary


With a background in program management, Linda has served in various areas of the finance community for nearly 40 years.  She is one of two Largo Community Church  Financial Secretaries. Her past experiences include serving as the financial secretary of an 1100-member not-for-profit, served as treasurer to a non-profit, served as board director to several non-profits in Maryland and Virginia and she currently owns a small tax preparation service. Prior to working  at LCC, Linda volunteered as a reading comprehension and mathematics tutor at Woodmore ES and was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Mitchellville. 

 

Mrs. Howard is a  retired federal employee and retired Commander, US Navy.    She holds a BS in Business Administration, MS in Information Systems, MS in National Security Strategy, is a graduate of the Senior Executive Fellows Program, John F. Kennedy School of Government Harvard University.  Throughout both her federal and military careers, Mrs. Howard received numerous  exceptional performance awards and military medals.

Herman Hines
STEM Development & Coordination
 
 

Freelance business consultant to several IT and health services companies. Herman retired in 2011 from DB Consulting Group, Inc. as Sr. Vice President for NASA Programs. While there he served as Program Manager (PM) of the NASA Peer Review Services Program at NASA HQ for 7 years. He also supported numerous space missions such as SOHO, UARS, TRMM, GOES, and ATS-6 at NASA Goddard Space Center (GSFC) for 34 years.In addition, Herman Assisted in start a model rocketry program at GSFC with the Office of Public Affairs and the EEO Office called “Project Careers” which targeted inner city youth (4th -12th Grades).

 

Mr. Hines served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, Strategic Air Command (a Vietnam-Era Veteran) and started attending the University of Maryland (Atlantic Div.) while overseas, and later Bowie State Univ.; where he received his B.S. Degree. Holds a M.S. Degree in Systems Management with a concentration in Space Operations from Capitol College. Has serves on the Board of Directors at Largo Community Church in Mitchellville, MD. Has traveled internationally supporting missionaries in Africa, Philippines, & Jamaica and also taught numerous space science courses on these humanitarian trips.
